四、天子魔者，即是波旬。此魔是佛法怨讐，常恐行人出離其界，故令諸鬼神眷屬作種種惱亂，破壞行者善根，是為他化自在天子魔。

Fourth, the devaputra-māra: this is Pāpīyas. This māra is the enemy of the Buddhadharma; constantly fearing that practitioners will escape his realm, he causes various ghosts, spirits, and retinues to produce manifold disturbances to destroy the practitioner's wholesome roots. This is the devaputra-māra of Paranirmitavaśavartin.
