第二、明四魔發相者：若煩惱魔，如前不善根性中三毒等分煩惱中廣說。若陰入界魔發相，如前不善及善根性中發種種色心境界說；若死魔發相，如前病患法中廣說。所以者何？病為死因。若鬼神魔者，今當分別說。鬼神魔有三種：一者、精媚；二者、垖惕鬼；三者、魔羅。

Second, explaining the manifestations of the four māras: As for the māra of afflictions, it has been explained extensively in the earlier section on the unwholesome root-natures regarding the three poisons and equally balanced afflictions. As for the manifestations of the māra of the aggregates, bases, and elements, they are as explained in the earlier sections on unwholesome and wholesome root-natures regarding the arising of various physical and mental realms. As for the manifestations of the māra of death, it is as explained extensively in the earlier section on methods regarding diseases and afflictions. Why is this? Disease is the cause of death. As for ghost and spirit māras, they will now be distinguished and explained. There are three kinds of ghost and spirit māras: first, seductive spirits; second, startling and terrifying ghosts; third, Māra.
