第三、釋四禪發相，此如上三行偈說證，例前開為六意：一、正明證四禪；二、明支義；三、明體用；四、明淺深；五、明進退；六、明功德。

Third, explaining the manifestation of the fourth dhyāna: As the three gāthā verses above explain its realization, following the previous pattern it is divided into six points: first, directly explaining the realization of the fourth dhyāna; second, explaining the meaning of the factors; third, explaining essence and function; fourth, explaining shallow and deep; fifth, explaining advance and retreat; sixth, explaining the merits.
