第三、體用者，前五支為因，第六默然心為果，果後更起五支則為用，默然為體，例如前四禪不異。

Third, essence and function: the preceding five factors are the cause, and the sixth, the silent mind, is the effect. When the five factors arise again after the effect, they constitute the function, while silence is the essence, not differing from the analogy of the four dhyānas above.
