Discussing factors in terms of the expedient means of cultivation should indeed be like this. The Buddha's intent is difficult to fathom, and since there is no definitive text, it cannot be conclusively determined. Or perhaps upon realizing the space absorption, five factors are conventionally established within the space absorption. Why? The sūtra also states: 'Five factors serve as the cause, and the sixth, the silent mind, is the absorption's essence.' Now, establishing factors based on cultivating space, with their concealment and manifestation, to explain cause and effect, essence and function, seems rather awkward. If one conventionally establishes five factors based on the time of realizing the space absorption, it is also vividly apparent and seems discernible; with deep deduction, one will understand it oneself without needing extensive explanation.
