8.88

通上下者，經「觀身厭患，遠離身相」者，深知欲界之身，過罪非一，身分皆不可得也。身等三觸，對初禪、二禪、三禪，對可見。

As for universally covering above and below: The sūtra's statement, 'contemplating the body with weariness and disgust, departing from bodily characteristics,' means deeply knowing that the body of the desire realm has manifold faults and transgressive flaws, and parts of the body are completely ungraspable. The three sensations of body and so forth correspond to the first dhyāna, second dhyāna, and third dhyāna, which can be seen by comparison.
