8.98

「若非識者，是名寂靜，我今云何求斷此識」者，即是念滅識之方便，緣非識之法，入少識處定也。

'If it is non-conscious, this is called quiescent; why should I now seek to sever this consciousness?' refers to the expedient means of intending to extinguish consciousness, conditioning dharmas that are non-conscious, and entering the absorption of the station of little consciousness.
