1. The notion of distension: Beside the corpse, the practitioner sees swelling and distension, like a leather bag filled with wind, different from its original appearance. Within this body there is no master, driven and ruled by deluded consciousness, looking, listening, and speaking, thereby deceiving oneself; where has it now gone? One sees only an empty dwelling, distended, the neck stiff. The charms and seductive beauty of this body, delicate skin, vermilion lips, white teeth, long eyes, straight nose, flat forehead, high eyebrows—such a fine body bewitches people's minds. Now one sees only distension; where is the beauty? The marks of male and female are also unrecognizable. One then takes this mark to contemplate the person one loves, making this rebuke to the mind of desire: 'A distended bag of foul dung is loathsome; why is it worthy of greedy attachment, sinking [in saṃsāra] for this?' One reflects on oneself: 'My body has not escaped this dharma.' With one-pointed samādhi, one eliminates worldly covetous love.
