“Just as a person at a fork in the road
Is bewildered and takes neither path,
So too is doubt
With regard to the true nature of all dharmas.
Because of doubt, one does not diligently seek
The true nature of all dharmas;
This doubt is born of delusion,
The worst of all evils.
Among wholesome and unwholesome dharmas,
Birth-and-death and nirvāṇa,
There are definitively real and true dharmas;
Do not give rise to doubt about them.
If you harbor doubt and bewilderment,
You will be bound by the wardens of birth, death, and hell,
Like a deer seized by a lion,
Unable to attain liberation.
Though one may have doubts while in the world,
One should follow the wondrous and wholesome Dharma;
Just as when looking at a fork in the road,
One should pursue the path that is beneficial and good.”
