"Birth and death are unceasing,
Because of greed for desires and relish for flavors.
Nourishing the enemy and entering the burial mounds,
One extensively undergoes various hardships.
The body stinks like a dead corpse,
With nine orifices discharging impurities;
Just as toilet worms delight in dung,
The foolish greed for the body is no different.
The wise should contemplate the body,
Not craving or being stained by the world.
Free of burdens and free of desires,
This is called true nirvāṇa.
As the Buddhas have taught,
Practicing with single mind and intention,
Counting the breath in dhyāna-concentration,
This is called practicing dhūta."
