1.54

復次，行者若能了息性空，不見即息是命、離息有命，既不得命，破慳命心。爾時即能捨命給施眾生，心無驚畏。當知了達息空，即能具足捨命檀波羅蜜。

Furthermore, if the practitioner can comprehend the emptiness of the nature of breath, they do not see that the breath is itself the life-principle, nor that apart from the breath there is a life-principle. Since the life-principle is not apprehended, they destroy the mind of stinginess regarding life. At that time, they are able to give their life for the sake of sentient beings, with a mind free of alarm and fear. Know that thoroughly penetrating the emptiness of breath allows one to fully accomplish the dānapāramitā of renouncing life.
