Now, the practitioner contemplates the one mind and sees all minds and all dharmas; contemplates one dharma and sees all dharmas and all minds; contemplates bodhi and sees all afflictions and saṃsāra; contemplates afflictions and saṃsāra and sees all bodhi and nirvāṇa; contemplates one Buddha and sees all sentient beings and all Buddhas; contemplates one sentient being and sees all Buddhas and all sentient beings. All appear like shadows, neither internal nor external, neither identical nor different, unfathomable in the ten directions, naturally so by fundamental nature, without an agent. Not only do they, within a single mind, distinguish the quantities of all dharmas of forms and minds, ordinary and noble, throughout the dharma realms of the ten directions, but they are also able, within a single atom, to penetrate the dharma gates of the quantities of forms and minds of all Buddhas, ordinary beings, and nobles in all worlds of the ten directions. This is a brief explanation of the gate of counting in perfect contemplation; following, cessation, contemplation, turning back, and purification are each likewise so.
