Regarding initial realization, a bodhisattva enters the syllable A gate, which is also called the stage of the initial resolve, obtaining the true wisdom of anutpattika-dharma-kṣānti. At that time, being able in a single thought-moment to count the mental practices of all Buddhas, bodhisattvas, śrāvakas, and pratyekabuddhas, as well as to count immeasurable dharma gates in ineffable dust-mote world-systems, is called the gate of counting. Being able in a single thought-moment to accord with all undertakings in the dharma realm is called the gate of following. Being able in a single thought-moment to enter a hundred thousand samādhis and all samādhis, with delusion and habit-energy both brought to cessation, is called the gate of cessation. Being able in a single thought-moment to be aware of and understand the characteristics of all phenomena, endowed with all kinds of wisdom of contemplation, is called the gate of contemplation. Being able in a single thought-moment to penetrate all phenomena distinctly and clearly, with spiritual powers and transformations, taming sentient beings, and returning back to the source, is called the gate of turning back. Being able in a single thought-moment to accomplish the matters described above without the mind being stained or attached, because it is not defiled by phenomena, and also being able to purify Buddha lands and cause sentient beings to enter the pure path of the three vehicles, is called the gate of purification. When a bodhisattva of the initial resolve enters this dharma gate, as the sūtras explain, he is also called a Buddha. He has already attained the correct wisdom of prajñā, heard the tathāgatagarbha, revealed the true dharmakāya, become complete with śūraṅgama, clearly seen the Buddha-nature, abided in great nirvāṇa, and entered the inconceivable single true realm of the Lotus samādhi. It is explained at length as clarified in the Avataṃsaka Sūtra. This is the realization of the inconceivable, true six wondrous gates at the first stage.
