偈云：「各無來世糧，失三利致苦，大法將欲頹，哀哉見此事。」此一偈明內無善機，外無聖應法種之芽。又「枯」是則失現未之涅槃三利之樂，非但失三利之樂，乃更招三途之苦。斯則法無人弘，日就頹毀。苦哀哉耳！「為是因緣故，須造觀心論」半行結也。

The verse says: / 'Each lacks provisions for future lives; / losing the three benefits brings suffering. / The Great Dharma is about to collapse; / how lamentable to witness this!' / This single verse clarifies that internally lacking the wholesome capacity, externally there is no noble response, and the sprout of the Dharma seed withers; this is losing the joy of the three benefits of present and future nirvāṇa. Not only do they lose the joy of the three benefits, but they further incur the suffering of the three destinies. In this case, with no one to propagate the Dharma, it day by day declines and falls into ruin. How bitter and lamentable! The half-line concluding it states: 'For these causes and conditions, / one must compose the Treatise on Contemplating the Mind.'
