The verse says: / 'To the equal, true dharma-realm, / there is no practice and none can arrive. / If one can inquire into the contemplation of mind, / one can practice and can arrive.' / The five and a half verses from here clarify that believing and complying with the Buddha's bequest makes one a true son of the Buddha, overturning the former confusion into the present understanding and practice. As for 'to the equal, true dharma-realm, there is no practice and none can arrive': the principle of the Middle Way's true dharma-realm is quiescent, absolute, and signless; unconditioned, with neither person nor phenomenon, neither object nor wisdom. How could there be a person who can practice, or a phenomenon to be arrived at? Yet although there is no practice and no arriving, if one can investigate the mind and perfectly cultivate the three contemplations and the smṛtyupasthānas, one arrives at the other shore of ultimate nirvāṇa.
