二、耳識界。耳根若對聲塵，即生耳識。耳識生時，即識聲塵，故名耳識界也。

Second, the ear-consciousness dhātu. When the ear faculty faces the sound object, the ear-consciousness immediately arises. When the ear-consciousness arises, it immediately cognizes the sound object; hence it is named the ear-consciousness dhātu.
