三、慧支。解知之心名慧。行者既發三禪之樂，此樂微妙難得，增長遍身。若非善巧之解慧，則不能方便長養此樂得遍身。

Third, the factor of discernment. A mind of understanding and knowing is named discernment. Once the practitioner has generated the bliss of the third dhyāna, this bliss is subtle and difficult to obtain, increasing and spreading throughout the entire body. Were it not for skillful discernment and understanding, one would be unable to nurture this bliss expediently so that it pervades the entire body.
