Third, the liberation gate of wishlessness. What is called the liberation gate of wishlessness? If one knows that all dharmas are signless, then there is completely nothing to be done; this is called wishlessness. Why is that? If one grasps anything among dharmas, one forms wishes and yearnings regarding the three realms, and consequently produces the karma of the three realms of existence. Now, because all signs are ungraspable, one has no wishes or yearnings regarding the three realms and does not generate any karma of birth and death in the three realms of existence; with no karma, there is no retribution; this is the liberation gate of wishlessness. This liberation gate of wishlessness takes ten aspects as its objects, namely impermanence, suffering, origin, cause, condition, arising, path, correctness, progress, and vehicle.
