八、斷想。觀涅槃離生死智慧相應想，名為斷想。行者思惟，若涅槃清淨無煩惱者，當斷結使，證涅槃也。

8. The notion of abandonment: The notion associated with the wisdom that contemplates nirvāṇa as separation from birth-and-death is called the notion of abandonment. The practitioner reflects: 'If nirvāṇa is pure and free of afflictions, I should sever the fetters and latent defilements and realize nirvāṇa.'
