Third is the entering-sounds dhāraṇī. One who attains this dhāraṇī, upon hearing all spoken sounds, feels neither joy nor anger. If all sentient beings curse and revile one with harsh words for kalpas as numerous as the sands of the Ganges, one's mind harbors no resentment. If all sentient beings praise and make offerings to one for kalpas as numerous as the sands of the Ganges, one's mind remains unmoved, feeling neither joy nor attachment. This is the entering-sounds dhāraṇī, which is retention of practice. Furthermore, there are the dhāraṇī of quiescent cessation, the boundless dhāraṇī, the dhāraṇī of awe-inspiring virtue, the dhāraṇī of contemplating according to the stages, the Gaṇḍavyūha dhāraṇī, the Ākāśagarbha dhāraṇī, the Sāgaragarbha dhāraṇī, the dhāraṇī of discerning various dhāraṇīs, the dhāraṇī of illuminating the meanings of all dharmas, and so forth, briefly mentioned, up to five hundred dhāraṇīs; if elucidated extensively, there are immeasurable dhāraṇīs.
