初、十妙意。然者是也，即領上之辭，亦信解之語，若不信者乃云不然。此迹門等者，指上玄文所談十妙，境智行位因也，三法果也，感應兼自他，神通說法，是能化者，作屬自也，眷屬利益是所化者，事屬他也。故因等四收十妙盡，一代教門所明法相豈過於此！今於十義，皆用待絕二妙而融會之令無壅礙，故云融通入妙。

First, the intention of the ten subtleties. "Ran" (thus) means "correct"; it is a phrase confirming what precedes, and also words of faithful understanding; if one does not believe, one says "not so." "This trace gate," etc., points to the ten subtleties discussed above in the Xuanwen: objects, wisdom, practice, and stages are the causes; the three dharmas are the effect; sympathetic resonance combines self and other; spiritual powers and preaching the Dharma belong to the active transformer, so the activity belongs to oneself; retinue and benefit are those being transformed, so the matter belongs to others. Therefore, the four [categories of] cause, etc., fully contain the ten subtleties. How could the doctrinal characteristics explained in the teachings of a whole lifetime exceed this? Now, with respect to these ten meanings, one uses the two subtleties of comparison and absolute to fuse and reconcile them so that there is no obstruction; hence it is said, "fusing and penetrating into the wondrous."
