Second, from 'Therefore one knows' onward reconciles sentient beings and Buddhas residing in a single thought-moment. One's own sentient beings and Buddhas are the three thousand of the mental dharma. Other sentient beings and Buddhas are the Buddha dharma and the sentient-being dharma, which are both called 'other', each inherent with the three thousand; the three thousand does not go beyond sentient beings and Buddhas. Gathering phenomena with principle to incline together toward one's own mind—because it is inherent in the mind, because it is transformed by the mind, and because the entire essence is function—by recognizing a single thought-moment one can see universally everywhere.
