Second, from "Therefore pure..." downward, a broad demonstration. The text has eight lines. The first two lines raise both environment and person: the three lands such as Common Residence cyclically constitute pure and defiled, and the bodies of the ten realms such as hell sequentially differentiate superior and inferior. Next, the two lines from "A dust-mote body..." downward both demonstrate the essential nature of environment and person: a single dust-mote body and a single dust-mote land each inherently possess the three thousand and their essence pervades the Dharma realm; each of those other bodies and lands is likewise. Third, the two lines from "This being so..." downward clarify universally subsuming all realms into one realm, and all bodies into one body; although the text has lands and bodies subsumed separately, the meaning must be that environment and person mutually include each other. Fourth, the two lines from "Broad and narrow..." downward conclude on subtlety: the three thousand are unhindered, their arising inexhaustible, beyond the mind's conceiving and the mouth's expressing; such characteristics of integration are ever so from past to present, unchanging in delusion or awakening.
