五約位通不通簡別不同者，若別教明位，初地不得通二地，何況具足諸地；若圓教明位，如《華嚴經》說：「從初一地，具足一切諸地功德。」

Fifth, distinguishing differences in terms of whether stages penetrate or do not penetrate: In the distinctive teaching's clarification of stages, the first bhūmi cannot penetrate to the second bhūmi, much less be complete in all the bhūmis. In the perfect teaching's clarification of stages, as the Avataṃsaka Sūtra states: 'From the very first bhūmi, it is complete in all the merits of all the bhūmis.'
