問：何故世、出世前果後因耶？答：聲聞根鈍，知苦、斷集、慕果、修因，是故然也。

Question: Why are the worldly and supramundane presented with the effect first and the cause afterward? Answer: Because the faculties of the śrāvakas are dull, they know suffering, sever origination, aspire to the effect, and cultivate the cause; therefore it is so.
