問：仁用違文背義各十段文難，子不尋《止觀》即修附法，若得良師取意決通，何須尋讀《止觀》？既蒙勸進，可不即修此義？既成，更問何耶？

Question: You used ten passages each alleging violation of the texts and betrayal of the principles to cross-examine [me], saying that without examining the Zhiguan one undertakes practice attached to phenomena, yet if one finds an able master to grasp the intent and resolve it thoroughly, why would one need to examine and read the Zhiguan? Since one has received exhortation, can one not immediately practice this? Once this meaning is established, what more would one ask?
