況上人堅執外境為唯識者，只如常坐專觀理具，或發初住及內外凡。既未歷外事，豈觀道未開不可論道耶？

Moreover, regarding the Venerable's rigid adherence to external objects as consciousness-only: consider someone in constant sitting who exclusively contemplates inherent possession in principle and perhaps awakens the first abidance or inner and outer ordinary ranks. Since they have not traversed external phenomena, could the path of contemplation not yet have opened, so that one cannot speak of the path?
