既被詰難書用心佛高下難之，朗然已墮，不肯首伏，遂強據三無差義救之。意云：心佛既其無差，佛法便是心法。作此救義，又彰上人不識三法無差所以也。

Having already been interrogated and challenged by my Letter of Inquiries regarding the relative elevation of mind and Buddha, [your position] clearly collapsed. Refusing to bow in submission, you then forcefully relied on the doctrine of the threefold non-distinction to rescue it. Your intention was: since mind and Buddha are non-distinct, the Buddha-dharma is precisely the mind-dharma. Offering this rescue once again exposes that your Reverence does not comprehend the reason for the non-distinction among the three dharmas.
