予今徵詰上人廢觀心之義，如破狂寇。純談理觀、直顯心性，是上人兩書端首、立義宗源。此之二義若壞，則寇中主將已戮，其諸殘黨不攻自亡也。

My current interrogation of your Reverence's abolishment of contemplating the mind is like crushing frantic bandits. 'Purely discussing principle contemplation' and 'directly revealing the mind-nature' are the very heads of your Reverence's two letters, the original fountainhead of your doctrinal position. If these two meanings are destroyed, the bandit commander is already slain, and his remaining partisans will collapse of themselves without attack.
