豈非上人專立此玄已純談理觀、已直顯心性故，可廢後文附法相觀。今既自云全是事法觀，則招伏不是純談理觀，則後之附法觀門那得輒廢？

Is it not because your Reverence exclusively maintained that this Xuan[yi] already purely discusses principle contemplation and directly reveals the mind-nature that the subsequent contemplation appended to doctrinal marks could be abolished? Now, since you yourself state that it is entirely phenomenal contemplation, you thereby concede that it is not purely discussing principle contemplation; how then could the subsequent phenomenal contemplation gate be rashly abolished?
