Because your reverence is entirely unskilled in inquiring into principle, you stated at the very beginning of the Letter Answering Doubts: 'Because the ten kinds of threefold dharmas in the text of the Profound Meaning directly reveal the mind-nature, their meaning is identical to principle contemplation. If one merely explains the ten kinds of threefold dharmas directly without harmonizing them through dharmatā, then one would additionally establish a section on contemplating the mind to contemplate the preceding ten dharmas. This is like the Miaoxuan merely using the three tracks to categorize and interfuse the ten dharmas, where there ought to be an explanation of contemplating the mind, and its absence in that text is an omission. Although the present text of the Profound Meaning brings along ten kinds of dharma-characteristics, they are nevertheless all interfused through dharmatā. Dharmatā has nothing outside itself—it is simply our single mind. If one recognizes the single mind, one penetrates all dharmas. Why should one only recognize the ten kinds of threefold dharmas in a single thought-moment, up to immeasurable threefold dharmas, whether horizontal or vertical, all illuminated as entirely our single thought-moment? Could there be dharma-characteristics outside this that are not harmonized, such that one would still need to append to teachings to perform contemplation? One should know that what this Profound Meaning discusses is not only the round fusion of dharma-characteristics, but also the clear lucidity of principle contemplation. If one contemplates based on this, how could it be said that teaching and contemplation are not distinguished, or that understanding and practice are both lost?' (From 'Because' onward, this is all text from the Letter Answering Doubts, without adding or deleting a single character; the text is preserved in hand). I do not know on the basis of what principle your reverence rashly claimed that the ten kinds of threefold dharmas in the Miaoxuan are not harmonized through dharmatā?
