荊溪云：使一代教文融通入妙。偏小之法尚皆融妙，因何十種圓教三法却不以法性融之？若《妙玄》不以法性融通諸法，則全是有為事相，且待絕二妙何所堪耶？是則雖談妙法，不明常住，以不約理論妙故也。

Jingxi says: 'He caused the textual teachings of the entire lifetime to be interfused into subtlety.' If even partial and small dharmas are all harmonized and subtle, why would the ten kinds of threefold dharmas of the Perfect Teaching not be harmonized through dharmatā? If the Miaoxuan did not interfuse all dharmas through dharmatā, then they would be entirely conditioned phenomenal characteristics, and how could they be worthy of the two subtleties of relative and absolute? In that case, although it speaks of wondrous dharmas, it would not illuminate eternity, because it would not discuss subtlety on the basis of principle.
