既前後窮逐此玄十種三法未具觀心義，纔說佛法便為觀心。此等愆過皆由自昔不曉心佛眾生，約理雖同，事用仍別，乃將心法偏從理釋謂是真心，致於一家法相及觀心之義全然迷暗。

Having pursued this back and forth to exhaustion, the ten kinds of threefold dharmas in this *Xuanyi* do not possess the meaning of contemplating the mind; yet as soon as Buddha-dharma is spoken of, you take it to be contemplating the mind. All such errors stem from your long-standing failure to understand that although mind, Buddhas, and sentient beings are identical in terms of principle, their phenomenal functions remain distinct. You have thus interpreted the mind-dharma exclusively from the perspective of principle, calling it the true mind, which has led to total confusion and obscurity regarding our school's doctrine and the meaning of contemplating the mind.
