惜哉上人亦稍聰俊，能分科節尋文作義。何不見巧知陋、捨短從長，那得專守邪師之教、堅扶已墮之宗？輒用未詳之文，剛廢至真之觀？今既得新米草，宜棄故者。更若未愜來意，任彼曲救。然雖能轉計，今置汝於不可轉處也。

What a pity that you, Venerable Sir, are also somewhat intelligent and sharp, capable of dividing sections and searching texts to construct doctrines! Why do you not recognize the skillful and understand the base, abandon shortcomings and follow strengths? How can you exclusively cling to the teachings of heterodox teachers and stubbornly uphold a fallen tradition? Recklessly using unexamined texts, you rigidly abolish the truest contemplation! Now that you have obtained fresh straw, you should discard the old. If this still does not satisfy your intention, you are free to make crooked defenses. Yet though you can shift your stratagems, I have now placed you where you cannot turn.
