夫欲受此菩薩戒者，必先請師策導開解，於一切境起慈悲心。若非此人，戒無由發。今為現前大眾，恭請某人作授大乘菩薩戒師，各須一心隨我陳請。若至某甲處，當稱自己名。

Now, those who wish to receive these Bodhisattva Precepts must first invite a master to guide and open their understanding, so that they give rise to a mind of loving-kindness and compassion toward all circumstances. Were it not for this person, the precepts would have no means to arise. Now, on behalf of the present assembly, we respectfully invite [so-and-so] to serve as the master bestowing the Great Vehicle Bodhisattva Precepts. Each of you must single-mindedly follow me in presenting the request. When coming to the placeholder 'so-and-so', you should state your own name.
