十二問：理性消伏為約修明？為約性辨？若約修者，不出約行消伏。若約理性，理自消伏，那云今觀諸法唯心染體等耶？今觀之言，修耶？性耶？

Question 12: Is the eradication and subduing of the nature of principle clarified in terms of practice, or distinguished in terms of nature? If in terms of practice, it does not go beyond eradication and subduing in terms of practice. If in terms of the nature of principle, principle naturally eradicates and subdues—why say, 'Now contemplating all dharmas as mind-only, the defiled substance is entirely pure,' and so forth? Are the words 'now contemplating' practice or nature?
