四種四諦出自《大經》，祖誥備陳，尋常說示。猶恐聞者領略不親、暗於文義。今因講次，即此命題，仰各形言而伸釋之。延慶座主問。

The four kinds of four noble truths originate from the Mahāparinirvāṇa Sūtra; the patriarchal instructions fully set them forth, and they are routinely explained and indicated. Yet I still fear that listeners grasp them superficially and remain dim regarding their text and meaning. Now, following the sequence of lectures, I propose this topic, asking each of you to express yourselves in words and provide an explanation. Asked by the Abbot of Yanqing.
