十四問：〈勸發品〉記云：十地但斷十二品盡，非斷伏極，知非普賢義。疑者云：十地但斷十品，何云十二耶？若斷十二品，還過普賢，何云非斷伏極也？亦不可言是別教意，由來普賢但約圓位故。

Fourteenth question: The Subcommentary on the 'Chapter on Encouragement' states: 'The tenth bhūmi only cuts off twelve grades completely; it is not the extreme of cutting off and subduing, so we know it is not the meaning of Samantabhadra.' A doubter says: 'The tenth bhūmi only cuts off ten grades; why does it say twelve? If it cuts off twelve grades, it would surpass Samantabhadra, so why say it is not the extreme of cutting off and subduing? Nor can it be said to be the intention of the separate teaching, since Samantabhadra has always been explained only in terms of the perfect stages.'
