Regarding the above letter by Great Master Fazhi of Siming, his disciple Rukai requested me to write a colophon for it. Have you not heard of the exile from Yue? Having been away from his homeland for a long time, he rejoiced upon seeing someone who merely resembled a person. Is it not that the longer one is away from one's state, the deeper one's longing for its people? Alas! I, foolish one, am long separated from the era of the Great Master, and my longing for his voice is profound. Now, beholding his brushwork, it is as vivid as during his lifetime, far more than merely resembling a person. Unable to contain my joy and admiration, I write this weeping with emotion. Eve of the yiyou year of the Qiandao era [1165], his disciple Daoyin bows twice and reverently adds this colophon.
