Brilliant was Master Shi, / a tiger among men of letters; / pearls and gems at the corners of his mouth, / embroidered brocade at the tip of his brush. / Princes and nobles revered and received him, / the sagely sovereign showed affection and regard; / bestowed the title of Ciyun, / Tianzhu was his dwelling place. / Fazhi was his elder brother, / Venerable Tong was his father; / stately was this single gate, / dragons soaring and phoenixes wheeling. / Accumulating merit and piling up deeds, / through who knows how many winters and summers; / the fourfold assembly looked up to him, / as children rely on their mother. / His Sanskrit chanting was grand and magnificent, / spreading throughout the realm; / wherever there were liturgy and ritual texts, / all were compiled and arranged by him. / Through the vow power of Samantabhadra, / the golden hand stroked his head; / to the end of future time, / he acts as the Master of Repentance.
