Answer: Here, karma together with views and thoughts collectively enter the conventional truth of birth-and-death, and are precisely what is broken by ultimate truth, thereby constituting the samādhi of ultimate truth. In other passages, when karma is broken together with [the delusions of] dust and sand, it constitutes the samādhi of conventional truth; each has its reason. Why? As in the preceding passages on the immaculate [samādhi] and others, scattered goodness is used to break evil karma, and scattered goodness constitutes the contemplation of provisionality. Here, meditative goodness is used to break scattered goodness, which constitutes the contemplation of emptiness; hence it speaks of the renunciations subduing views and thoughts, and so forth. The commentator plumbed the profound depths, hence he provided this reply.
