問曰：「但一切眾生從曠大劫來，備造有漏之業，繫屬三界。云何不斷三界繫業，直爾少時念阿彌陀佛，即得往生，便出三界者？此繫業之義，復欲云何？」

The question asks: 'Sentient beings, since vast kalpas past, have completely created defiled karma and are bound to the three realms. How is it that, without severing the karma that binds one to the three realms, merely reciting [the name of] Amitābha Buddha for a brief time allows one to attain rebirth and directly transcend the three realms? What then is to be made of this doctrine of binding karma?'
