Third, how does it lie in decisiveness? When that person committed transgressions, they arose relying on a thought with subsequent thoughts and a thought with interruption. Now, these ten recitations arise relying on a thought without subsequent thoughts and a thought without interruption; this is decisiveness. Furthermore, the *Da zhidu lun* says: 'When all sentient beings are at the point of death, the blade-like winds dismantle the body and the suffering of death presses upon them, giving rise to great terror. Therefore, meeting a good spiritual friend, they arouse great vigor; ten recitations in which thought connects with thought are supreme roots of goodness, and they immediately attain rebirth.' Again, it is like someone confronting the enemy to break their battle line, where the strength of a lifetime is exhausted in an instant. The goodness of the ten recitations is also like this. Furthermore, if a person at the point of death gives rise to a single thought of wrong view and a supreme evil mind, it can instantly overturn the merits of the three realms and plunge them directly into the evil destinies.
