1.19

又行者等若病不病欲命終時，一依上念佛三昧法正當身心，迴面向西，心亦專注觀想阿彌陀佛。心口相應聲聲莫絕，決定作往生想、華臺聖眾來迎接想。病人若見前境，即向看病人說。既聞說已，即依說錄記。又病人若不能語者，看病人必須數數問病人見何境界。若說罪相，傍人即為念佛，助同懺悔，必令罪滅。若得罪滅，華臺聖眾應念現前，準前鈔記。又行者等眷屬六親若來看病，勿令有食酒肉五辛人，若有必不得向病人邊，即失正念，鬼神交亂，病人狂死墮三惡道。願行者等好自謹慎奉持佛教，同作見佛因緣。已前是入道場及看病人法用。

Furthermore, whether practitioners are sick or not sick, when they are about to die, they should, completely in accordance with the above buddhānusmṛti-samādhi method, align their body and mind, turn their face to the west, and with minds also single-mindedly concentrated, contemplate and visualize Amitābha Buddha. Mind and mouth corresponding, voice after voice without interruption, decisively form the thought of rebirth, and the thought of the holy assembly on the flower dais coming to welcome them. If the sick person sees the scene before them, they should immediately tell the caregiver. Having heard it, the caregiver should record it according to what was said. Moreover, if the sick person is unable to speak, the caregiver must frequently ask the sick person what realm they see. If they speak of signs of sin, those nearby should immediately recite the Buddha's name for them and assist in repenting together, definitely causing the sins to be extinguished. If the sins are extinguished, the holy assembly on the flower dais will appear before them in response to the thought, to be recorded as before. Furthermore, if the relatives and six kinds of kin of the practitioner come to visit the sick, do not allow anyone who consumes wine, meat, or the five pungent roots to come; if there are any, they must by no means approach the sick person, lest right mindfulness be lost, ghosts and spirits cause confusion and disruption, and the sick person die in madness and fall into the three evil paths. May practitioners be carefully prudent, uphold the Buddha's teaching, and together make causes and conditions for seeing the Buddha. The above is the method for entering the bodhimaṇḍa and caring for the sick.
