Furthermore, if the practitioner wishes to sit, they must first sit in paryaṅkāsana: place the left foot on the right thigh aligned with the outer edge, place the right foot on the left thigh aligned with the outer edge, place the right hand in the palm of the left hand, and bring the tips of the two thumbs together. Next, hold the body upright and sit straight; close the mouth and close the eyes, seeming open yet not open, seeming closed yet not closed. Then, with the mental eye, first contemplate the uṣṇīṣa curls on the Buddha's crown. The scalp is golden, and the hair is dark blue; each single hair and each single curl spirals on the head. The cranium is snow-colored, brilliant and transparent inside and out, and the brain has the color of crystal. Next, visualize that the brain has fourteen channels, each channel having fourteen rays of light that emerge from the pores of the hair roots, encircle the hair curls seven times, and re-enter through the pores at the tips of the hairs. Next, visualize the aforesaid light emerging outward from the pores at the roots of the two eyebrows. Next, visualize the mark of the broad, flat, and straight forehead. Next, visualize the mark of the eyebrows, high and long, like the crescent moon. Next, visualize between the eyebrows the ūrṇā-lakṣaṇa curling between the eyebrows; the hair is solid on the outside and hollow on the inside, emitting golden light. Emerging from the tip of the hair, it shines straight upon one's own body. As the Guanfo sanmei jing says: 'If someone contemplates the ūrṇā-lakṣaṇa for even a single moment, whether they see it or not, they immediately eradicate the heavy sins of birth and death spanning ninety-six koṭis of nayutas of grains of sand of the Ganges in atomic particles of kalpas.' Constantly generating this visualization greatly removes obstacles, eradicates sins, and attains immeasurable merit, bringing joy to all Buddhas.
