"Third, concerning karmic actions of mind: one must not harbor unreasonable greed or ignorance, must not let the mind give rise to doubt and slander, must not let the mind give rise to jealousy and hatred, must not let the mind give rise to killing, stealing, sexual misconduct, or delusive evil conditions, must not let the mind give rise to haughty pride, looking down upon others, affirming oneself and faulting others, or indulging in wealth and lust. If one gives rise to such minds, acting with laxity and self-indulgence, feigning wrath or displaying false joy, harboring an insincere mind, the Buddhas will surely know it and will not come to save them. If there be monastic or lay, noble or base, poor or rich, all must be treated with equality, regardless of enemy or kin, in accord with the Buddha's teaching. If one lacks this mind, one must disclose and repent, taking the end of one's physical form as the limit, unwavering through death and life. For such persons, in the preceding thought they make pariṇāmanā, and in the subsequent thought they instantly awaken. Just as a child longs for its mother and a mother raises her child without minding weariness or avoiding hardship, immediately coming to watch over it. If one can be like this, only then is there great compassion, pure karmic action of mind, equal as empty space. Karmic actions of the three karmas and the six sense faculties should be practiced in this way according to the monastic regulations and the Dharma. The transgressions that violate them cannot be recounted one by one.
