"May there only be right mindfulness and right pariṇāmanā, compassion and deep faith that is resolute, most sincere and non-retrogressing. If one does not accord with the verbal teachings, even if one practices buddhānusmṛti, together they cannot save [oneself], sins will not be extinguished, and sickness and suffering will be difficult to eliminate. Greed for wealth ruins virtue and is the root of misfortune; taking it improperly is the basis of evil. We vow to sever all evils, we vow to practice all goods, we vow to fulfill merits numerous as the sands of the Ganges, and we vow to accomplish the unsurpassed Buddha path."
