The Buddha said: "Those who wish to be born in a pure buddha land without giving rise to obstacles should bathe cleanly, put on fresh, clean robes, maintain a vegetable diet and long-term fast, and not consume pungent or foul foods; in a quiet place, sit cross-legged with correct mindfulness, and whether walking or sitting, be mindful of the marks of the Buddha's body without other external conditions. Whether for one day and one night, or for seven days and seven nights, with utmost heart be mindful of the Buddha until seeing the Buddha: with small mindfulness one sees him as small, with great mindfulness one sees him as great, and even with immeasurable mindfulness one sees the Buddha's physical form as immeasurable and boundless. One is both mindful of and contemplates each and every one of the Buddha's thirty-two marks, understanding them all clearly. Following the marks seen, one sees a blue radiance. Upon that radiant mark, focus the mind exclusively and with refinement, not letting the mind be distracted. After that light emerges, it enters from the practitioner's crown. At that time, settle the mind and be careful not to be frightened; contemplate this blue light circulating throughout the limbs within one's own body, seeing the body blaze with fire until it turns to ash, which wind comes and disperses into nothingness. When contemplating in this manner, there is not a single mark, and the ten directions are all empty. Those who cultivate in this way can reach one buddha land and immeasurable lands in the space of a finger-snap."
