政和八年五月十五日，宜春黃先之携李伯時所畫阿彌陀像，來東山為示。（余）觀伯時畫多矣，大率顧陸之意，畫意不畫態，故不施五色。而伯時知之耳。問其所得，曰：「李仲元。仲元中為袁法官以遺所厚善者：先之苦求得之。」（余）諦視其筆跡，非今輩所能為，其伯時之筆審矣。稽首為之讚曰：

On the fifteenth day of the fifth month of the eighth year of the Zhenghe era, Huang Xianzhi of Yichun brought an image of Amitābha painted by Li Boshi to Dongshan to show me. I have seen many paintings by Boshi; mostly they have the conception of Gu [Kaizhi] and Lu [Tanwei], painting the spirit rather than the physical form, and thus he did not apply the five colors. Boshi alone understood this. When I asked how he acquired it, he said: "From Li Zhongyuan. Zhongyuan was a judicial official in Yuanzhou and presented it to someone he was on intimate terms with; Xianzhi obtained it only after earnest entreaties." I looked closely at the brushwork; it is not something that people of today could produce, so it is certainly Boshi's brush. I bow my head and compose this eulogy:
