Taking compassion as his chamber, forbearance as his robe, / and emptiness of dharmas as his seat, / he displays the compassion of identical substance. / The forty-eight vows are what the world turns to, / like crows flying wing to wing / when the sun sets. / How great is the sweet dew, / the dhāraṇī of the wondrous Dharma, / causing my contemplation gate / to open wide and level! / Contemplating closely one's own mind, / it wonderfully transcends knowing and thinking; / this is the place of refuge, / truly inconceivable. / Restraining the horse of my mind, / keeping it from galloping wildly, / the radiant light appears before me, / and I see the white lotus pond. / Without relying on the intermediate existence (antarābhava), / in the space of bending or stretching an arm, / joyfully taking spontaneous birth, / like an eight-year-old child. / How was this reached? / Please examine and reflect on it: / it was entirely upheld by my diligence / and the power of the marks. / I bow my head to the wondrous, serene one, / unmoving and towering high, / causing all living beings / to cut off foolish darkness and doubt. / If there are those who share the vow, / just gaze upon the Guide; / completely shed like a cicada's husk, / emerge from the mud of the five turbidities.
